If you need to drive to campus, we want to help you to do this more sustainably.
The º£½ÇÉçÇø encourages staff, students and visitors to choose sustainable or active travel methods to come to campus wherever possible. However, these modes of transport aren’t suitable for everyone.
The Sustainable Sussex Car Benefit Scheme
If you need to drive to campus, we want to help you to do this more sustainably.
The University has partnered with Tusker to support our staff to commute in a less carbon intensive way, through new and affordable electric and plug-in hybrid cars. Staff who qualify for the benefit can lease an electric vehicle while making tax and National Insurance savings from their gross pay.
We recommend staff check their eligibility for the scheme before applying, as this is based on their gross contractual salary and is subject to other deductions. Find out more about the qualifying criteria for the scheme. Should you have any questions around your eligibility, contact the reward team at reward@sussex.ac.uk.
If staff are not eligible for this scheme, there are a range of other schemes available to support them in travelling more sustainably, including:
Parking for electric cars
We have nine electric car charging points to ensure that you can charge your electric vehicle, located in the Jubilee multi-storey car park. These are only available to drivers permitted to park on campus; that is those with a campus parking permit or a pass to park.
You must register your electric vehicle before you can use these charging points, you can do this by e-mailing us at SEF.Transport@mitie.com.
Our charging points are managed by the POD Point Open Charge app, which is available on all iOS and Android devices. Consult the for a full step-by-step guide on how to use the Jubilee car park charging points.
