802.1x is a collection of protocols (see glossary for protocols) that allows users secure access to the campus network using their standard user name and password. It also allows automatic generation of access keys used when connecting to wireless networks; meaning that users no longer have to enter in static keys /passphrases when connecting to the eduroam network.
